Forklifts, automated guided vehicles, UPS systems, machinery: above 2 kWh, every battery needs its own passport from 18 February 2027.
Three points industrial suppliers should know.
Many variants
Small series and custom packs mean many models. Each needs complete master data.
Several supply tiers
Cells, modules, BMS and housings often come from different suppliers. The data has to come together in time.
Below 2 kWh
Smaller industrial batteries need no passport. Other obligations, such as labelling and take-back, still apply.

Does a forklift battery count as an industrial battery?
Generally yes. Traction batteries for industrial trucks are industrial batteries because they are not intended for road vehicles. Check your specific case with the obligation check.
Does a one-off battery need a passport too?
One-offs generally fall under the obligation if they meet the criteria and are placed on the market.
